Minister of Local Administration discusses with UNDP Country Director ways to develop joint work

Damascus/SANA _ Following up on the progress of work in implementing existing cooperation projects and programs between the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Syria in the local and environmental sectors along with ways to develop them, were the focus of the meeting of the Chairman of the Supreme Relief Committee, Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Louay Kharita, with the Resident Representative and Country Director of the United Nations Development Program in Syria, Sudipto Mukerjee.

Regarding the emergency response to arrivals as a result of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, Kharita indicated that the necessary measures for Syrian and Lebanese displaced were taken through facilitating and simplifying their entry procedures via border crossings and preparing shelter centers, stressing the government’s endeavors to provide all their needs along with the need for the United Nations Development Program to participate in this regard.

Mukerjee attached great importance to the existing cooperation with the ministry and the aspiration to develop it in the future and accelerate the necessary approvals to implement projects, pointing to the possibility of coordination on the issue of supporting the emergency response to arrivals and contributing to supporting the efforts of the Syrian government.
